February is here!

Hi everyone!

I've joined a group of UCA Bloggers to help incoming freshman see what it's like to be a Big Bear at UCA. Okay, maybe a little freshman bear, but it's still great! I came here thinking, "What am I doing in this city? I don't know anyone!" And I miraculously met some people I knew from high school, or even elementary school - small world!

So, I had my first semester in college and was thoroughly surprised time and time again at the many things that take place on campus! I mean really, I knew college life would be exciting and life-changing, but I was totally shocked at how much I have grown since coming here to Conway in August!

And after the holiday break, it seems the semester is in full swing once again! Classes have picked up and a new round of papers, friends, and activities have popped up! I've started new classes and have new professors -- in fact, I don't think I have any professor from last semester. I still talk to my department head, though, at times. I've also met some new people from a fraternity on campus and met a few more international students! As a French major, I'm really glad I can meet students from other countries and have a chance to practice French with them when I can. Also, David Cook, the last season's winner of American Idol, is supposed to come later this month. I learned if you want tickets to an event, you gotta be fast! They sold out on campus by noon the first day of sales.

I'm thinking this semester is going to be even better than the last one, and with all the crazy events that happened last semester, I'm not sure that's possible! I think back and I'm still amazed at how far I've come and changed since coming to UCA. I remember not leaving my room the first day I got here because I thought I would get lost(and with my navigational ability, I probably would have) and now here I am, roaming campus at random hours and sitting by the beautiful fountain on campus when I feel like it, not scared of the things I thought I would be when I got here! No, only thing now is keeping my studies up which shouldn't be too hard, there's multitudes of stimulation and inspiration on campus! Seeing foreign students and the thought of actually LIVING in France and studying keeps me going! That's another cool aspect of college, you can study abroad!

You can expect a weekly blog update, so bookmark the page or check the UCA.edu site often for the bloggers of UCA to see what's going on in student life on campus!

Thanks for reading and until next time, readers!
